Well, it is not necessary to comment it any further, visit the given link. Some improvements are made, especially with the Trace (now called PowerTrace) program, some new tools and tool improvements. PHOTO-PAINT is still there (although Corel has bought Jasc and Paint Shop Pro). Prices (pre-order) are full $399, upgrade $179. Trial can be downloaded now as well.

This is very exciting... I have used CorelDraw from the beginning of my digital art time. Started with CorelDraw 7 about 8 years ago I guess... I'm looking forward to trying this bad boy out!

Hopefully it's a solid release.

Brad : In contrary to 12. That is the worst built I ever bought the update of. I am still on 11.

I've been trying Corelx3 for a few days now. Not a lot of differences. They've added a bevel tool that allows you to bypass using the extrusion tool. I'd settle for more stability, myself.

The best part for me when it comes to CorelDRAW is that because I'm a teacher I can get the software for $99.

...and Donna becomes my new best friend. HI 47Songs

...just kidding.

...about the insinuation that I would utilize a friendship to buy software for cheaper than cost, not the friend part.

I have been beta testing this for several months. There are a couple of features that I really liked, especially the improved trace features.

Hi, Bill!

I agree with WID about the trace features.

Donna, my wife is a teacher... you MUST tell me how I go about getting it for 99 bucks!
on Jan 22, 2006
Absolutely, Rich! Specifically, she will need to get her school's Federal or State tax ID number to give to Corel. She needs to call the customer service or sales number on the Corel site to give them the info and then order the package. I recieve the full licenced software in a box for the $99.

I get all my software and my mac computer hardware all at education discounts. Almost, not ALL, but almost all software companies offer a discount if you are a teacher. Adobe offers great prices on their software if you are a teacher. You can get these discounts for students as well. They specifically advertise for k-12 and higher education teachers and faculty. I am a preschool teacher, in a private preschool, but I still get all the education incentives.

Go for it!!!

As a matter of fact, go here:Link

I just started playing with x3, I have had some frieds beta testing it, and they tell me it is quite stable. I own 12, but still use 11 due to some anying bugs in 12. So far X3 or 13 whatever it is called seams quite stable, and they have finaly fixed some things that have been driving be crazy since 10.
I plan to hammer on the trial for the next 15 days to make sure all is well. but from what Ive seen so far I will be ordering my upgrade before then.

Thanks Donna! I appreciate it. Yeah, I know.. SD has been working up a friendship with me for a few years now just for this moment...

Or, Rich... Your wife could also purchase it at the Achedemic Superstore for $89.00 for the program cd but without the box and extra goodies. This is the best price I've found. But heck, if you've used Corel for as long as I think you have, who needs the box or the manuel? Help files will answer many of your questions, but even the boxless version comes with a "handbook" by some professionals that gives some tips on the newer features. I just may order the software at this price.

Thanks Donna... either way is a great price... I have used Corel for a while.. since version 7 was brand new, whenever that was... I went from 7 to 9 and now I'm on 10. I've heard bad things about 11 and 12 so I didn't upgrade. I'm hearing all good about X3. I'm still waiting for my wife to bring home her Tax ID... she's a bit forgetful ... Either that or spending 7 hours a day with 13 year olds just fries her brain by the end of the day...

I dropped CorelDraw 12 after Adobe release Photoshop CS2 cause i can do everything i need with Photoshop vectors, all my works are vectors and i can tell you that i don't miss CorelDraw at all but sure i will try this X3 version.
You guys should try the Microsoft Expression (Acrylic) it's a great program with a lot of power for vectors, it's for free for now cause it's in beta.
